Job Description

Bliley is seeking a Lead System Design Authority to join a team and culture that is built around high-quality driven products. As Bliley’s Lead System Design Authority, you’ll have the full responsibility of assurance that the solution for the product developments is fit for purpose, that each module and component meet performance and/or customer requirements, and lead the development team to standardize and maximize the reuse of Bliley’s modules and/or components otherwise known as “vital organs”. You’ll own the final reviews and sign-off at each lifecycle development gate, and the compliance to the requirements and company’s technical direction/roadmap. 

We’re looking for a passionate and collaborative professional that can lead through their personality traits. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity be accountable for the company’s compliance to technical performance, customers solutions, business development through product performance and features, and maximizing re-use to improve quality of product performance with lowest cost targets.

Our Lead System Design Authority will work with the VP of Engineering and the CTO to execute new product developments and integrate new technologies into the new product development lifecycle. You’ll team with the VP of Engineering to execute NPDs and NPIs, compliance to requirements and re-use, and provide technical support. You’ll also team with the CTO to integrate new advancements of technologies from the R&D TRL lifecycle and standardize these new technologies within the NPD/NPI modular development approach.

Job Qualifications: Senior Engineer

A Day in the Life

  • Accountable for system-level requirements to be clear and have measurable performance requirements.
  • Accountable that all system-level requirements are achieved and validated through test cases with artifacts
  • Accountable for design governance throughout the NPD/NPI lifecycle.
  • Accountable for technical interface with the Customer and BD Team.
  • Accountable for the implementation of Bliley’s technology roadmaps.
  • Accountable and responsible for the design to cost.
  • Accountable to initiate feasibility and trade studies when required.
  • Accountable to drive technical risk process.
  • Approves all design changes and ECOs associated to design changes with the CCB.
  • Research new product and component ideas to generate company Intellectual Property (IP) that propels the company to growth.
  • Lead, develop and design complex components and systems, and make all the necessary calculations to support the design.
  • Lead, develop, perform and analyze results for all tests to verify and validate the design and tests.
  • Accountable for and assure Subject Matter Expert (SME) insight is captured to all design reviews at the lifecycle gates (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, PRR).
  • Own the responsibility for the team’s ability to identify, mitigate and resolve issues and potential risks, and escalate to management.
  • Support and lead daily tasks identification within the team to maximize time management, and productivity for the company's critical activities.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of all tasks within the functional team, communicating with the team, and being a great team player and leader.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Requires a BS degree in engineering or equivalent, or 15+ years of experience, where a MS degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external face-to-face, verbal, and written discussions.
  • Ability to direct, oversee, and leads personnel, and is a great team player through coordination, and motivational leadership.
  • Excellent attention to detail, well-organized, and self-motivated.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Must have advanced computer skills to work within Microsoft product suites and other computer software applications.
  • Per ITAR Compliance must be a U.S. Citizen.
